Who is Liberty Jones? Liberty came to fruition during the early stages of the Americana movement. Originally a 4-piece, Liberty has morphed into a quintet with an extensive song list, solid musicianship and sense of humor that has them being likened to a southern rock NRBQ.

BLUES AND ROOTS MUSIC STARS COME TOGETHER FOR BLUESFEST '08 BENEFIT AT BLIND WILLIE'S ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 5
SECOND WIND CANCER RETREAT BENEFIT SPECIAL GUESTS INCLUDE LEGENDS BONNIE BRAMLETT AND WILLIAM BELL
ATLANTA, GA – Legendary singers Bonnie Bramlett and William Bell are among the many artists scheduled to perform at BluesFest '08, benefiting the Second Wind Cancer Retreat, on Sunday, October 5, at Blind Willie's blues club in Atlanta. Other artists scheduled to perform at the benefit include Liberty Jones, Men in Blues and Ike Stubblefield and Friends (whose band members include acclaimed guitarist Grant Green, Jr.), Diane Durrett, Andrew Black, Barry Richman and Nancy Chancey. Several surprise guests will also perform at the show, with doors opening at 3:00 PM and music scheduled to run from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. Tickets are $15 and will be available at the door, with no one admitted under 21 years of age. This non-smoking event is also dedicated to the memory of blues guitarist Jeff Healey, who passed away from cancer in March.
Second Wind Cancer Retreat is a new house being built near Blue Ridge, Georgia, on 17 acres of land that borders the Chattahoochee National Forest for cancer patients and survivors who've recently undergone treatment as a way to help heal their minds and bodies. Visitors can enjoy the relaxation of watching the horses on site, fishing in a trophy-size trout pond or walking the beautiful trails in the area.
In addition to the music, a silent auction will be held throughout the benefit to raise more funds, with a number of autographed collectables signed by such artists as John Mayall, Jay Geils, Hank Williams, Jr., Maria Muldaur and many others. The highlight of the auction will be a customized Fender Stratocaster guitar which has been signed by a number of music stars including the aforementioned Jay Geils, as well as Jimmie Vaughan, Ed King of Lynyrd Skynyrd and Duke Robillard, among others. There will also be raffles throughout the show of CDs, DVDs and other music merchandise.
The music will begin at 4:00 PM with a solo set from local star Andrew Black, followed by north Georgia blues singer Nancy Chancey and her band. Up next is the popular Marietta-based roots-rock group Liberty Jones, who recently performed with Webb Wilder. Up-and-coming Atlanta blues band Men In Blues follows with a set of highly- charged music. After performing their own short set, Ike Stubblefield and Friends, led by Hammond B-3 organist supreme Ike Stubblefield and guitarist Grant Green Jr. (son of the legendary jazz guitar player), will back up the special guest singers, including Diane Durrett, William Bell and Bonnie Bramlett. Stellar guitarist Barry Richman will then launch things into the next level with his own set and lead an all-star blues jam to close the show.
BluesFest '08 will mark the first Atlanta appearance in many years for legendary singer Bonnie Bramlett, whose new CD, Beautiful, has been generating universal acclaim for "the high priestess of southern blue-eyed soul," as Elmore magazine recently described her. "Bonnie Bramlett's R&B credentials are top shelf," said the Boston Globe. "This new disc is, pure and simple, a gem."
Bonnie Bramlett has played a major part of rock 'n' roll history. At 16, she became the first –and only – white Ikette with the Ike & Tina Turner Revue. In the late '60s, she and then-husband Delaney formed Delaney & Bonnie & Friends, the first real rock 'n' roll traveling road show, whose onstage members included George Harrison, John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Duane Allman, Dave Mason, Gram Parsons, Leon Russell and Rita Coolidge. She co-wrote "Superstar," a hit for Karen Carpenter and nominated for a Grammy. Her new CD reunites Bramlett with legendary producer Johnny Sandlin (Allman Brothers Band, Gregg Allman, Widespread Panic) and a host of musicians she recorded with in the past at Capricorn Records, such as Randall Bramblett, Scott Boyer, Tommy Talton and Bill Stewart.
Music legend William Bell has distinguished himself in a long career as a singer, songwriter, producer and record label president, in essence defining the word "soul."
Born in Memphis but based in Atlanta since 1970, William Bell was one of the pioneers of the classic Stax/Volt sound, joining such illustrious musical forces at the label as Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Rufus and Carla Thomas, Eddie Floyd, Booker T. & the MG's Albert King and the late Isaac Hayes. Among his classic hits at Stax were "You Don't Miss Your Water," "Everybody Loves a Winner," "A Tribute to a King" (William's personal salute to the legendary Otis Redding, "I Forgot to be Your Lover," his internationally-acclaimed duet with Judy Clay, "Private Number," and the perennial Christmas favorite, "Every Day Will Be Like a Holiday." He also co-wrote blues legend Albert King's signature song, "Born Under a Bad Sign," which has gone on to become one of the most recorded songs in the blues world.
In 2006, William Bell released his first new album in five years, New Lease on Life, which became a huge radio hit on the southern blues/soul music charts. In addition, his Wilbe Records label has become a major player in the contemporary soul movement, recording a number of Atlanta and southern-based artists. In 1997, he was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.

LIBERTY JONES SETS UP AGAIN AT THE RED LIGHT CAFÉ ON AUG 11
ALONG WITH PALS JOHN BRANNEN AND ROGER MATHIS THE SHOW WILL ROCK!
Marietta, GA- Back off the heels of their show at the Mable House Ampilitheater Liberty Jones is going “home” to the Red Light Café on Saturday August 11th at 8:30 PM with a $ 10.00 ticket. Singer-songwriters John Brannen and Roger Mathis will be there as well to rock the joint. The Red Light Café is located on 553 Amsterdam Ave, in Midtown Atlanta their phone: 404.874.7828 (www.redlightcafe.com).
The band’s CD, Atlanta GA, (Indian Proud Entertainment) has been doing really well in sales, radio airplay and press attention. As we speak, the CD has been playing across the country on 35 different stations as well as internet. The band huddled into Atlanta’s very own WRFG on a Friday night with Marc Miller, on his Spam n Grits show played and talked for about an hour. It was also broadcasted over the internet so folks could hear it all over.
On the Blogcritic’s Magazine, writer Kate Harding’s gushing review, made it to the Boston.com reviews page and a lot of other blogs and online sites have picked it up. Miles of Music has called it “a cracker of a guarantee!” Music News Nashville (online mag) claims-“proves that they have the talent to go far with their wide open approach.”
But the kind words from Ms Harding, sums it up best, “I wouldn’t be surprised to see Liberty Jones take quite a stance in the Southern Rock /Americana/Country-oh, whatever-world.”
With their solid line up and tight harmonies the band continues to march forward to catch as many fans along the way as possible. They had a great response from the Mable House audience and staff when they played a 30 min set. Everyone referred them as the “Marietta based band”. Yup, local boys done good.
So to quote an old Pinky and the Brain classic:
Pinky: What we gonna do tonight Brain?
The Brain: Same thing we do every night, try and take over the world!
